Ladder
On Saturday, March 21st 2009 GFD members along with Carmen
Road, Guilderland Center, and Fort Hunter participated in the final
day of the Aerial Operations Course, which GFD members were taking.
Carmen Road Truck 132 along with Guilderland Center’s EA 49 were on
hand to teach the students about different types of aerial apparatus,
students learned how to operate everything from a elevated platform to
a straight stick.

The beginning of the day, instructors taught how to properly operate
the outriggers and jack systems on the 3 trucks, which were in
attendance, followed by a excellent meal cooked by GFD members who
volunteered to help out the throughout the day. The afternoon students
climbed and operated all the aerial devices, learning the difference
between the aerial manufactures on hand. At the end of the day
students conducted a mock scenario utilizing Truck 29’s platform as a
improvised stand pipe system for a roof-top fire, along with following
some water through Truck 29’s master stream which was supplied by Fort
Hunter’s ETA 34.
